Pacora

Dimas opens his taller at seven, and most days it doesn't close until the last truck is fixed. His shop sits on the Panamericana where it passes through Pacora — a stretch of highway lined with auto shops, building supply yards, and the occasional restaurant serving truckers. This is Panama City's industrial back lot.

Pacora is the furthest eastern corregimiento before you're truly in the provinces. The numbered developments — houses identical in rows, sold to young families on thirty-year mortgages — are transforming farmland into suburbs, but the process is far from complete. Cows still graze next to construction sites. The nearest hospital is forty minutes away in the city.

Dimas knows every family on his road. His wife runs a small store from their front room — chips, sodas, phone credit. Their kids went to the local school and then to university in the city, which was the whole point of Dimas working seventy-hour weeks.

For the SAM audience, Pacora completes the map — it's the eastern endpoint of Panama City's jurisdiction. No expat moves here intentionally, but understanding that the metro area stretches this far helps calibrate expectations about commute times, development patterns, and where the affordable housing that Panamanians actually buy gets built.
