About Conquistadores

Conquistadores is the river-facing, newer-construction answer to Laureles core. You trade some walkable café density for taller buildings, more 2010s+ inventory, view balconies, and proximity to the metro corridor toward El Poblado. For foreigners who would rather pay for a balcony than for the third café on the block, this is a strong fit.

A long-thin residential strip running along the western bank of the Río Medellín, just south of Laureles. The character is more vertical than Laureles proper - taller buildings with river or city views, more 2000s and 2010s construction, fewer cafés and bookstores per block. Conquistadores attracts foreigners who want Laureles-area prices and walkability with newer construction and a touch of view.

A Day in the Life
🇨🇴
Mark & Sofia
Mark (33, mechanical engineer, originally London) and Sofia (31, Colombian, raised in Cali) bought a 2BR with a partial river view in a 2019 tower on Conquistadores' eastern edge. They wanted modern construction, river-facing windows, and a flat walk to Carlos E. or the metro.

Mark's mornings start with coffee on the balcony - they pay a small premium for the river view but Mark would say it's worth it. He works from a small home office and walks to a coworking space in Carlos E. Restrepo two days a week.

Sofia takes the metro from Industriales to her office in El Poblado. The walk to the station is 12 minutes; the train is 4 minutes; the walk on the El Poblado side is another 8. She prefers it to driving.

Lunch is mostly at home or at a salad place along Avenida Bolivariana. Weekend brunches are in Laureles or Carlos E. - both flat walks from their building, even with a stroller someday.

Evenings: dinner at one of the restaurants along the corridor, or a 15-minute walk to La 70, or a Cabify to El Poblado when they want energy. Their building has a pool and gym they actually use; weekends often involve at least one pool afternoon.

They are starting to think about kids. The building has several young families. Sofia's mother is in Bogotá but visits often; the second bedroom converts to a nursery without much trouble.
